Stay at Wången
Rest up for a while
On a pilgrimage? You can’t get closer to the St Olavsleden pilgrim trail, also known as Northern Europe’s version of the El Camino. It passes right through our grounds. Wången is the perfect place to throw off your boots for an evening, soothe your aching muscles in our sauna, and enjoy some good food. You can stay in a hotel room or indeed, pitch your own tent in our grounds. You can also take a look at what Aktivut Travels offers. They have tours and tailor made experiences for both hikers and bikers along the trail.
Off to the snow? For ski enthusiasts, we are just 50km from Åre, Sweden’s – and one of northern Europe’s – largest downhill skiing resort. Wången is also just 50km from the city of Östersund, home of Sweden’s National Biathlon arena and a Winter City with many miles of cross-country ski trails. Åre and Östersund will host the Slalom and Biathlon World Championships in 2019.
Going gastronomic? The nearest major city of Östersund, is a UNESCO World Heritage City of Gastronomy. The entire region of Jämtland is growing in popularity as a tourist destination for experiencing naturally produced and crafted foods. So if you are eating your way around our region, you might want to add Wången to the menu.
Accommodation to suit most needs
Wången offers a range of accommodation options. “Förvaltaren” (the Steward) is a 19th century style, fully renovated building with private hotel rooms. If you prefer more space and the opportunity to cook for yourself, we also have two-bedroom cottages with well-equipped kitchens. You can choose to stay in our recently added conference hotel “Wangr” (meaning “paradise”). Wangr has 20 fully funished rooms, Internet connectivity, modern conference facilities and a relax-area with saunas for a truly restful experience. Finally, we have plenty of beautiful natural grounds for you to pitch your own tent.
The finest food in a unique Environment
Wången Inn serves excellent food and drink in a cozy milieu with attentive service from our friendly staff. In our large dining room, you can enjoy a buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, featuring traditional Swedish food with a modern touch. The inn also has an à la carte dining room where we offer delicious lunches and candle-lit dinners featuring specialties of the county of Jämtland.
And of course, when in Sweden, you might want to try our famous snaps. Here at Wången we have our own snaps with a hint of cumin.
